KELLY & JASON | WEDDING RECEPTION @ THE ROSE

On behalf of the Bride and Groom, Kelly and Jason, we’d like to welcome you to their 3rd Fall “Pick Me Up – Wedding Edition”.
Perhaps a bit of a back story is due here. The couple decided to start an annual tradition 3 years ago. For the 1st Fall “Pick Me Up” family and friends were invited over to enjoy chili, apple cider, dance, listen to music, and enjoy each other’s company. The 2nd Fall “Pick Me Up – Engagement Edition” celebrated the couple’s recent engagement, and again the invitation was extended to family and friends. So that brings us to this celebration, a year later, so by default it was labeled the 3rd Fall “Pick Me Up – Wedding Edition”. This title was posted to the marquee in front of The Rose event center. During the toast segment of the reception, the Groom explained the nomenclature and concluded by inviting family and friends to continue to join them year after year. And while they weren’t sure of the title of the next year’s celebration, that it would be taking place. As if right on cue one of the guests yelled out, “Baby Edition!”
Kelly and Jason held their traditional Catholic mass ceremony off-site at Saint John Francis Regis Chapel in Denver. Guests were then invited for the reception at The Rose event center in downtown Golden. Guests arrived to a fully set hors d’oeuvres station featuring a Cheese Assortment, Honey-Stout Chicken Skewers, 3-Cheese and Bacon Mac-N-Cheese Sticks, and Roasted Tomato & Garlic Bruschetta. Many of the hors d’oeuvres were also passed to ensure that all guests had a bite to eat. Guests were also able to indulge with a fully hosted bar. Cocktail Hour took place on both the main floor in the Lobby and upstairs on the Mezzanine level in the classic State Room lounge which allowed guests to spread out and truly enjoy the venue.

Guests were then invited to take their seats for dinner. The Bride and Groom chose to enter first for the Grand Entrance versus at the end. They then acted as MCs, alternated turns, providing brief introductions for each member of their wedding party. This personalized introduction was so fun and helped set the tone for the rest of the event.
Dinner service was buffet and featured Agave and Lime Glazed Salmon and Wild Mushroom Beef Medallions. In lieu of the traditional cake cutting the couple opted to instead invite up 3 of their wedding guests who were celebrating birthdays. The entire guest list joined in singing happy birthday to the 3 celebrants. The mother of the groom provided individually wrapped homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert; these also doubled as the couple’s wedding favor as guests were invited to take cookies home.
The couple’s choreographed first dance to Alicia Keys, “If I Ain’t Got You” ended with the couple pointing to all of their guests as they sang along with a line from the song, “Said nothing in this whole wide world don’t mean a thing, if I ain’t got you with me.”
DJ Ryan with Colorado Wedding Productions packed the dance floor for the duration of the event and even managed to include some slow songs to allow couples to embrace or refresh their drink at the bar. During one of the breaks while the newlyweds were at the bar, Kelly with Kelly Lemon Photography, surprised the couple with a sneak peak of their photos that she’d taken from earlier in the day to include photos from their ceremony. The couples gazed in amazement at the photos that took them back to the emotional moment in their lives that had taken place just a few hours earlier.
When it came time for the send-off of the Bride and Groom guests were invited to form an aisle for the couple to run through. The couple departed in their classic cardison turquoise Chevrolet Malibu – the Groom had actually restored the car, which had been his mother’s. In true wedding fashion the vehicle had been outfitted with an assortment of cans tied to the back bumper with “Just Married” scrawled on the rear window.
This was a truly exceptional wedding. Cheers to the Newlyweds and many, many years of annual Fall “Pick Me Up” celebrations.
