ASHLEY & STERLING | CHIEF HOSA WEDDING

Caitlin Lizza Photography

There are many things that can contribute to hosing a successful event – an incredible venue, mouth-watering food, a great bar, and egergetic music. But I find that truly successful and memorable events are those where the previously listed elements encourage guests to become involved and interact with one another. When you have just as many guests at the end of the night as when you started, you know it’s been a good party.

Ashley and Sterling’s wedding exceeded the measures for a successful event – despite Mother Nature’s relentless attempt to drown out this celebration. This couple and their remarkable guests not only remained until the end of the night, but continued the festivities all weekend long in the campground across from the venue. That’s a SUCCESSFUL party!

This fun-filled and adventurous couple said their vows in front of family and friends inside the historic Chief Hosa Lodge. This stone and log building features sweeping views of the Continental Divide and is an ideal venue for a rustic Colorado wedding.

The plan had been to have the wedding ceremony on the outdoor patio, but rain moved in and decided to stay for the remainder of the evening. Once the decision was made to move the ceremony indoor friends and family quickly modified the reception area to allow for an aisle and alter space.

The historic reception space was adorned with neutral colored fabrics, bundles of baby’s breath, soft candle light, hand-crafted wood signs, photos of the couple and warmed from 2 fireplaces.

During the ring exchange ceremony the couple vowed the following to each other:

“All that I am and all that I have, I offer to you in love and in joy.

From this day forward I will love and comfort you,

hold you close, prize you above all others,

and remain faithful to you all the days of our lives.”

The rainy weather kept everyone inside for the remainder of the reception, but by doing so it seemed to amplify the joy and love in the room. This unexpected turn of events provided guests with an un-predicted experience that gave meaning to the party that followed and continued over the wedding weekend.

As I reflect on this wedding I can actually see how powerful those vows that Ashley and Sterling said during their ring exchange to one another are…for their guests offered them all they have in love and joy and surrounded the newlyweds with love and comfort and remained by spending the weekend celebrating with them.

Cheers to you, Ashley and Sterling, for having a love that encourages your family and friends to interact and be involved in your lives.
