COURTNEY & JESS | HILLSIDE COMMUNITY CHURCH WEDDING
Caitlin Lizza Photography
When I think of Courtney and Jess’ wedding day and of the love that they have for one another my mind immediately goes to the famous “love verse” of the Bible. This verse is heard at nearly every wedding; I’m referring to 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three (gifts) remain: faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love.
Let’s begin with faith. As a Day-of Coordinator couple’s put their faith in my services long before their actual wedding day. I met with Courtney, and her mother Jen, roughly 6 months prior to Courtney’s wedding date. Courtney told me about her vision to fill the space with a soft romantic palette of blush, white and rose gold. They spoke about their desire to have an Italian, family-style dinner with pre-set individual salads. Jen then stressed the importance for everyone in the wedding party, in addition to the bride and groom, to be able to be present and participate in the celebration. I then shared how I would execute all of these details prior to and on the day of the wedding. Courtney and Jen were putting their faith in my abilities.
Then there’s hope. Bride’s are full of hope on their wedding day. They hope that it doesn’t rain (even though rain is considered good luck); they hope they don’t cry during the entire ceremony; they hope that all of their guests have a good time, etc. Courtney was hopeful for the same. With all of the months of planning behind her, it was finally her wedding day. The chapel was set with rows of white satin covered chairs, the guest tables were pre-set and off to each side ready for the room to be flipped after their ceremony by the catering staff and the wedding party was dressed an ready to go. At one point Courtney asked if we were on schedule as she picked up the timeline we had developed together. I reassured her that we were right on schedule and suggested that she not worry about the timeline. I was going to ensure that every moment would be executed as planned. As we tucked the timeline away, Courtney remained hopeful that everything would be perfect.

And finally, there’s love. This wedding overflowed with love. Not only were Courtney and Jess deeply in love with one another, but both families worked together diligently, fueled by love, to bring this couple’s wedding vision to life. The entire wedding party (bridesmaids and groomsmen) surrounded the bride and groom with love through their support emotionally, physically and spiritually. And love was extended to guests through full bellies, energetic entertainment and thoughtful favors.
So yes, the greatest of these is love. Courtney and Jess gifted me with the opportunity to be their Day-of Coordinator, which allowed me to bear witness to this immense love. Their wedding will serve as a constant reminder that when it comes down to it, it doesn’t matter the amount of money you make, or how successful you are in the corporate world, or how much fame you’ve achieved. What matters? How much you loved and were loved. Cheers to this truly beautiful couple.
